Dell Keathley - Biography

dell keathley

Dell Keathley is a representational artist who is both a studio painter and lover of plein air painting.  Color and light are the elements that usually draw her to a subject, as does the desire to show the beauty in simple things that are often taken for granted and overlooked.  Working in oil and watercolor gives her great latitude in how she will portray a subject.

Much of Dell's adult life was spent traveling and living around the world, allowing her the opportunity to study the works of old masters and learn from new ones. Living in Paris, France was an art education in itself: daily access to the Jeu de Paume, mornings at Giverny, having her work chosen for the Salon d'Automne, and the delight in showing in the Salon des Independants - priceless.   For contrast, studying with bright, young artists in Eastern Europe provided insight into whole new cultures. During her brief stays in the U.S. she studied with Gene Davis at the Corcoran School of Art, Danni Dawson at the Art league and workshops with nationally and internationally known artists. Dell has shown extensively in the Washington, D.C. area and abroad.
